Header Types

Expertly made to your exact measurements, our made to measure curtains are available in five heading types: 3 inch pencil pleat, 6 inch pencil pleat, double pinch pleat, triple pinch pleat and eyelet.

3 inch and 6 inch pencil pleat

3 inch pencil pleat

6 inch pencil pleat

Comprised of small individual pleats, pencil pleat curtain headings offer a neat, classic finish. The fabric is formed into tightly gathered folds which means the curtains can be pulled to your preferred width, making fuller folds if preferred. This heading type is available in two depths, 3 inch and 6 inch, with the 6 inch heading more suitable for full length curtains. Pencil pleat curtains offer a good blackout effect when fitted close to the wall, and can be hung on both a curtain track or pole. As the fabric is ruched against itself, more room is needed for stack back than with other headings.

Double and triple pinch pleat

Double pinch pleat

Triple pinch pleat

Pinch pleat curtain headings consist of sewn-in pleats that create a classic tailored look. With the pleats being in place already, little dressing of the curtains is needed, and the fabric simply falls into beautiful folds. The pleats form a concertina effect when stacked back, meaning that they take up little room, but as the fabric between the pleats folds back, a pole or track with good clearance from the wall is needed. When it comes to choosing between double and triple pinch pleat, this is purely down to preference! Triple pinch pleat headings use up more fabric than double pinch pleat headings and therefore offer a fuller drape.

Eyelet

Eyelet

Eyelet curtain headings offer a more contemporary look by creating large, even folds. As the fabric falls into pronounced folds, little dressing of eyelet curtains is needed and there is also minimum stack back. Suitable for use with poles only, eyelet curtains are very easy to hang, with the curtain rings simply sliding over the curtain pole. The result is a fuss-free, modern look that compliments any room size. Our eyelet curtains are of the standard 40mm diameter.

Curtain Lining

We offer the choice of two lining qualities, both in a soft ivory colour.

Standard: Standard lining gently filters the light, giving your home a soft glow. Made from a premium quality mix of BCI cotton and polyester produced from recycled plastic bottles.

Blackout: Blackout lining eliminates light while also further improving insulation, and is therefor ideal for bedrooms to create a warm and cosy space.

Interlining is an additional layer of fabric that is sewn between the curtain fabric and the lining. Interlining is used to add body to the curtains, giving them a fuller look, while also helping with insulation.

Made to Measure Curtain FAQs

We've created a handful of easy-to-follow measuring guides that we hope you will find useful. Our curtain measuring guide covers both made to measure and ready-made curtains

How to Measure For Curtains

How to Measure For Blinds

Our made to measure curtains and roman blinds are carefully made in the UK in Lancashire. They are hand finished to your exact size and specification. We have a choice of standard or blackout lining, with or without interlinings. There are a choice of 5 headings for made to measure curtains and if you need anything extra special, or just clarification, please contact us.

We offer the option of interlining for our made to measure curtains and roman blinds. Interlining is an additional layer of fabric sewn between the curtain fabric and the curtain lining. Interlining offers thermal insulation, noise reduction, reduces sunlight and improves the look and feel of your curtains.

All our ready-made curtains are only available as a pair. If ordering made to measure curtains, you have the option of single or a pair.

If your made to measure curtains or blinds are wider than the width of fabric, we will join the widths of fabric together with vertical seams. If your fabric has a pattern, it will be matched across the seams.

Standard lining provides extra protection to your curtains from direct sunlight and reduces fading. The appearances of your curtain will be enhanced too, with structure and shape being added. While offering the same benefits as our standard lining, our blackout lining also helps to stop light filtering through, making it ideal for use in bedroom curtains.

Our ready-made unlined curtains are sold in pairs. We are able to offer made to measure unlined curtains in a handful of our fabrics and these can be supplied as a pair or as a single curtain, depending on your preference. Please contact us if you are interested in made to measure unlined curtains.

Our made to measure curtains are available in a choice of eyelet, 3” pencil pleat, 6” pencil pleat, double pinch pleat or triple pinch pleat. Our ready made curtains are available in either eyelet or pencil pleat.
